About
Gerber/Hart Library & Archives is the Midwest's largest LGBTQ+ library, housing a collection documenting the LGBTQ+ experience in the United States. This volunteer-run organization in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood also hosts events and holds quarterly book sales that draw bibliophiles from across the region. The space functions as a gallery and is welcoming to families.
It's open only three days a week (Friday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm), so plan ahead if you want to browse the archives. Keep in mind that Yelp reports this venue may be permanently closed, so confirm before visiting. Nearby, Women and Children First offers another great bookstore stop.
