About
If you're after a dive bar with character and zero pretension, the Stork Club in Oakland is your spot. This family-run joint, established in 1918, has been serving up live music, pool tables, and vintage video games for decades. The decor is famously described as 'Cracked Out Barbie Meets Christmas in July,' with part of the owner's Barbie collection on display since 1959. It's a safe space for everyone over 21, with a strict no-hate-speech policy enforced by Tom, who has been helping his mom run the place for over 30 years.
You'll find a mix of local punk and folk bands on the tiny stage, but the club itself keeps you entertained even between sets. It's open daily from 1pm to 2am, with live music at night and a quieter daytime vibe. Thursday through Saturday are the best nights to catch a show. The outdoor seating is dog-friendly, and there's a happy hour and full bar. Note that it may be temporarily closed, so check before heading over. Browse photos and reviews.
