“Don't Go to Read . . . Go to Look at the Ceilings”
If you're near the U.S. Capitol with some spare time, this is an excellent spot to visit. It's the biggest library globally, but I'm not suggesting you go there to read. The Library of Congress consists of three buildings: the John Adams Building, the James Madison Building, and the Thomas Jefferson Building. I've only visited the Jefferson Building. Its architecture is Italian Renaissance style. Inside, you'll find beautiful vaulted ceilings, sculptures, paintings, and a Great Hall with a stunning stained glass ceiling. This quick visit takes about 30 minutes and is definitely worthwhile.
