“Pete is right, don' miss”
Pete is absolutely right — you see this memorial in movies and on television, but seeing it in person is incredibly moving and definitely brings on an emotional response. It makes you think about what an extraordinary person he was, what he accomplished for the nation, his vision, his determination. Looking out toward the Reflecting Pool and beyond, you try to imagine all the historic gatherings in Washington that helped shape the country, and it is truly overwhelming.

“Awe-Inspiring”
Among all the impressive memorials and monuments in this city, the Lincoln Memorial stands out as the most impressive to me. Its impact comes from both the surprisingly large statue of Lincoln and the straightforward design. The struggle for civil rights and broader human rights truly started with Abraham Lincoln. If you only have time for one memorial (though it would be a waste), definitely choose the Lincoln Memorial.
