You can easily spend the better part of a day here despite it not being huge. The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History houses 10,000 works of art and 27,000 historical objects, plus over 130,000 photo archives. It's municipally-owned and opened in 1967. There are sculptures both outside and in, and exhibits range from art to dioramas to movies.
Admission is free on Sundays and the first Wednesday of each month. The museum is attached to Old Town, so you can easily combine a visit with exploring the historic area. Parking can be tight, though, since it's right in Old Town.

“A Great Local Museum”
It's not enormous, but you can easily spend most of the day here. There are sculptures both indoors and outdoors. Admission is free on Sundays and the first Wednesday of the month. Exhibits cover a broad range, including art, dioramas, and films. The museum is connected to Old Town. A downside is that parking can be difficult since it's in Old Town.
