About
If you're fascinated by the interplay of fire, sand, and creativity, the Museum of Glass in Tacoma is your place. It's the only American museum entirely dedicated to contemporary glass art, and one of just three worldwide. Watch live glassblowing in the Hot Shop amphitheater inside the iconic metal-clad cone, where master artists demonstrate the craft daily. The museum also features a growing permanent collection and rotating exhibitions that chronicle the evolution of modern glass.
The museum opened in 2002 on a reclaimed Superfund site, sparking Tacoma's waterfront revival. You'll find it near E 18th St, steps from the Chihuly Bridge of Glass, which connects to the Tacoma Art Museum and others. Hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10am to 5pm. Free WiFi is available. It's a compact but immersive experience, best for visitors who want to see art being made, not just displayed.
