About
Drinks come in glasses so oversized you might only need three all night. Mad Myrna's, Alaska's self-proclaimed drag queen capital, has been anchoring Anchorage's gay nightlife since 1998.
Drag shows here feature both Queens & Kings, and there's karaoke seven nights a week. The dance floor, pool, and darts keep a mixed crowd of 20s through 40s entertained. Friday night drag is the big draw. The outdoor patio offers a breather between sets. It's adults-only, and the vibe is lively.
Located in Anchorage's Northeast neighborhood, Mad Myrna's is the main gay nightlife destination in the area.

It's a safe spot to party and have a good time. The crowd is diverse, including gay, straight, and everyone in between, with a very friendly vibe. Music was great, bartenders were cute, parking was easy, and the crowd was fun. Yaaas.

Unattractive feminine men with big attitudes and oversized butch lesbians. This bar doesn't have attractive people. They discriminate against gays who don't fit the typical flamboyant look or behavior. Gay bars in most other cities are better. Disgusting, total dive.

“Smalltown attitude”
I'm happy that this city has a gay community, but being in a gay establishment doesn't excuse rude and ugly behavior toward others. In bigger gay cities, that small-minded attitude doesn't work. Grow up and love each other, because that attitude won't get you anywhere.

“When in Anchorage - this is the place to be”
I know it's silly to ask if there are gay people in this city, but yes, and they come here. I enjoyed getting drunk with new friends, liked the imperfect drag show, and danced to music that was a bit outdated. But when you're here, what else is there to do?

“Great Fun & HUGE Drinks”
Mad Myrna's is the biggest gay bar in this city and offers something for everyone. They have a great drag show with both queens and kings, a nice dance floor, and pool and darts. The crowd is younger but includes gay men, lesbians, and straight friends. Drinks come in huge glasses. I usually have 5 or 6 cocktails a night, but at Myrna's I stopped at 3.
