An okay club with solid drag shows, but it doesn't come across as a true gay bar. In my three visits, the crowd was about 30% older white men, under 10% queer women, and at least 60% straight tourists and bachelorette parties who seem to view gay people as entertainment. The first time I saw Jackie Beat, the mostly straight audience was so rude and disruptive it was nearly embarrassing. As the only gay bar in town, it's not great for connecting with other queer folks, especially if you aren't cis, white, or male presenting. On the plus side, the staff is no-nonsense and drinks are cheap, and going with friends makes it fun. Cover can be steep.

It's a mess when the bartender has to write your drink order on a notepad! It's mid-2018! And some areas are cash only! Good grief!

“Should be called "Club Zero"”
Went last night and was really let down. It was the first bar on my trip that charged a cover and didn't allow indoor smoking. With three bartenders across different areas, getting a drink was tough. The patrons were very cliquey and didn't bother to welcome out-of-towners.

“2 visits, both poor :(”
Thursday 9 October 2014 - it was free, but that says it all. Terrible drag with lots of loud offensive language. Staff were friendly but the atmosphere was flat and dead. Is this really the best the city offers? Friday 10 October - three floors open, $10 cover, at 11:30pm the drag and burlesque on the third floor was better, but two floors had sad pole dancing men and hardly any customers. The city needs to improve - this was pathetic. (Also, no wi-fi in the 21st century?)

It's decent only if you like techno music and white guys (no offense). I didn't find it very diverse, but it was okay. Compared to my hometown, I'd give it 2.5 stars.
