About

Bar: Full bar

You won't find a dance floor or a twink-heavy crowd here. Big Daddy's is a 24-hour neighborhood dive in the Marigny that does the opposite of what most gay bars in New Orleans do: it stays quiet, dark, and cheap. Cash only at the bar and the arcade games, with bartenders who pour strong drinks for low prices. The regulars tend toward bears and guys in their 40s and 50s, but anyone looking to escape the Quarter's light shows is welcome.

Smokers can use the outdoor area, and there's a pool table if you want something to do. Being open 24 hours means you can show up at 3am on a Sunday and still get a drink. It's a bar built around conversation, not spectacle. Frankly, that's the point.

Big Daddy's is located in the Marigny, a laid-back neighborhood just downriver from the French Quarter, known for its local bars and residential charm.

“Low key”

If you need a break from the dance floor and flashy lights, or you're not into a crowd of twinks, this bar is a solid escape. I get bored easily, so I need OZ and a few other spots to keep me entertained. Orally entertained, lol.

“Comfortable neighbourhood tavern”

Not too dim, not too calm, not too busy. Just a fun little bar where you can chat with a stranger and see what happens.

“Great time”

I went to this bar last November. The bartenders are fantastic, especially Pancho and J.R. (what a cutie!)

“very friendly”

I stopped by Big Daddy's during SD 2007 to get away from the Quarter. The staff was really friendly, especially Poncho! I had a great time and plan to return next time I'm in NOLA.
