Jacque's Cabaret

Karaoke · Cabaret · Boston, MA

About

Most people expect a polished nightclub when they think drag cabaret. Jacque's Cabaret flips that expectation hard: it's a dive bar first, a drag show second, and it's been that way since the 1930s. Cheap strong drinks, dollar bills for tipping the entertainers, and a crowd that ranges from 20-something travelers to locals who've been coming for decades. The vibe is unpretentious, lively, and trans-friendly, with karaoke some nights and a fetish/kink party every second Monday in the basement.

Reservations are encouraged, especially for bachelorette groups. You'll find it in the Theater District, tucked away in a spot that doesn't look like much from the outside. That's part of the charm. Bring cash for tips and expect a night that's rowdy, welcoming, and completely unpolished in the best way.

Located in Boston's Theater District, Jacque's Cabaret is a short walk from several other gay bars and the Boston Common.

“total dive bar but great fun”

It was my first time visiting the city and I went to Jacques on a Wednesday night. I was hesitant at first because the location is a bit off the beaten path and the place doesn't look great from the outside, but we ended up having a fantastic night. The crowd was very welcoming and the performances were excellent.

“fishy real-ness !”

I've seen many drag queens before, but those performers are the best. I was visiting from another city. This is a great venue, but be aware it's cash only, which seems to be the norm for gay bars in this area unfortunately.

Over a year ago there was a fetish, kink night called FASCINATION, leather-themed and open to everyone, held every second Monday in the basement from 9pm to midnight. It's an amazing bar with friendly, supportive staff and a community focus. Strong drinks for cheap prices.

I came for a party and it was absolutely fabulous. The drag queens are unforgettable, there was great fun, unique lip-sync performances, and plenty of good drinks.

“Great times!”

I have visited many times with both straight and gay friends, and everyone always has a great time. Drinks are inexpensive and strong, the entertainers are fantastic, so remember to bring lots of dollar bills for tips.
