The patio smells like olive trees and the sound system is booming. This newly remodeled nightclub reopened last year with a sushi bar, a huge video screen behind the long bar, and shirtless bartenders who are reportedly way hotter than the gogo boys. The crowd is totally mixed: locals in their 30s and 40s, travelers, and drag queens everywhere.
Cover is $20 and drinks are Vegas-priced (a rum and coke runs $12). Hours are sporadic: Thursday through Sunday nights from 10pm or 7pm till 4am, plus a Saturday brunch from noon to 3pm. The old Gypsy faithful might miss the cavernous interior, but the new version is swanky and packed with energy.

I visited Gypsy late at night on July 26. A friendly security guard checked me in. The entry fee was $20, and I paid $12 for a rum and coke, which is pricey but expected in Las Vegas. This recently renovated club, which had its grand reopening last year, features an outdoor patio past the central DJ booth with live olive trees, plenty of tables and chairs, and two video screens. Inside, there's a massive video screen behind the long bar, a lengthy couch across from the bar, and a sushi counter to the left upon entry. I enjoyed the palm tree-shaped columns but missed the spacious feel of the old Gypsy. The crowd was very diverse with drag queens everywhere. The sound system was loud and powerful. I noticed three go-go dancers, but the shirtless bartenders were much more attractive. I'm uncertain whether I'd return.
