Silverado
Two bars under one roof
About
Walk in and you'll find two bars in one space, a huge dance floor, and go-go boys working the stage every single night. Silverado is a men-only gay club in Portland's Old Town, drawing a crowd that leans 20s and 30s but pulls in regulars of all ages. Drag shows and live entertainment share the spotlight with the dancers, and the full bar keeps things moving.
Cash is the way to go here. The music goes from Latin to house, and the vibe stays lively late into the night. Fridays through Sundays are the busiest. It's a no-photos zone, so keep your phone tucked away. If you want a break from the energy, you can duck into the other side of the bar for a quieter drink.
Silverado is located in Portland's Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood, a historic area with several other gay bars and nightclubs within walking distance.

“clickish”
All these older gay men have known each other since the 1970s, and I think they even have stools with their names on them. The bartenders are busy but not friendly, unless you are 18 or younger, then you get attention. Don't leave a good tip because they don't appreciate it and don't care. Do yourself a favor, go to the Rialto, or stay at your hotel, or better yet skip this pretentious wannabe city and fly into a real city like Vancouver, Canada.

“BUTT CRACK LOVES SILVERADO1”
They seem to keep trying to improve, so I wish them the best float in the gay pride parade.

“Great place for horny Daddies, not me.”
I like this place. I came on a Wednesday and the crowd was moderate. I love the setup and everyone seems very welcoming and friendly. I love the huge dance floor, even though I didn't dance, and the super hot go-go boys. The music ranges from Latin to house, which is great. It was a good experience until I was warned about taking photos. I'm like, why isn't photography allowed?

“question”
Can you go here if you're eighteen? If not, where's a good place for an eighteen-year-old?

“Hated it!”
It's too small and the music is too loud. If you go here regularly, you'll go deaf pretty soon. Plug your ears, that's all I can say. Hearing aids aren't sexy, especially when you're 40. The boys? They're boys. Some people like more than just twinks, variety is the spice of life. The first time I went, there was a good mix of twinks and older men. Now, most of them are just hard to look at.
