“Authentic Puerto Rico”

It's that greasy bob type place. Just relax and have a good time. Great spot for older guys!

“Tia Maria”

Nice spot, starts getting crowded around 9 PM. It's the first bar everyone hits before moving on to others. The space is small, so it's cramped—you have to push past people to get inside. Two pool tables take up room; one would be better. Drinks are cheap and strong. Bartenders are friendly. For special events like holidays, they open a second space to fit more people. Karaoke nights on Tuesdays and Sundays are terrible—avoid them. Good on Friday and Saturday evenings. Music is mixed, played on an old CD machine, so not the newest tracks, but that and the regulars make it the most well-known gay bar. Friendly crowd.

“LOVE IT LOVE IT”

This is where my friends and I go first before heading to another bar. The drinks are cheap, and you always run into someone. In July 2011, I met a nice doctor there, and we still talk occasionally. Yes, the crowd is older, but that's fine with me—I don't like a lot of young people with attitudes. The music machine is great. I just wish they had only one pool table; two is too many when it's busy and you can't walk around. They should stay open later to do better. That new club Heaven and Hell isn't good and will close soon. Can't wait to come back.

“Crowded”

It's a good place to meet locals. Can get very crowded in the evening. Most customers are in their 30s to 40s. Drinks are reasonably priced and bartenders are friendly. There are two pool tables in back, but it's so tight that you often have to move for someone to take a shot. Parking is hard to find, and there's always someone trying to charge you for a street parking spot.
