About

You might expect a typical bar, but Bluebird Cafe is primarily a listening room. It's not a gay venue, but the intimate live music setting and open mic nights draw a mixed gay-straight crowd seeking emerging talent.

Yelp confirms a 4.1 rating from 518 reviews, though some note the staff and strict rules (no talking during performances). Plan to focus on the music rather than conversation.

From the community

“great music, awful service”

The staff is unpleasant, you're not allowed to speak even to compliment the performance, and you can't place an order while a show is on. Unfriendly employees and pointless regulations.

“Intimate surroundings!!”

This is one of the rare spots where you can catch amazing performers in a cozy, close-up environment. Whether they're already famous or up-and-coming, the music is excellent. Just note it's not located near the Opryland area as the directory says.
