About
If you want a gay bar that also shows sports, Woody's fits the bill. It's a sports bar and video bar with pool tables, outdoor seating, and a lineup that includes karaoke, drag shows, and dance parties. The crowd skews mixed, with women and lesbian sports fans alongside the usual bar clientele.
Woody's hosts a campy show tune theme on Tuesdays and comedy nights on Fridays. Regulars note it's calmer than other bars on the strip, making it a good spot for a laid-back evening. You'll find it on Throckmorton St in Oaklawn.

“Sucks”
Gay men don't like sports bars at all. This just shows how clueless Oak Lawn bar owners are. A sports bar for gay men? That says it all.

“Good place to wind down”
The bartender was very friendly, and the atmosphere was more relaxed than at nearby places. It was a nice break from all the earlier activity. The bartender and other customers were all nice. There weren't many people, so if you want to avoid crowds, this could work.

“so so sports bar”
This venue is not ideal for watching games because they never play audio for major sports, opting instead for a DJ's dance mix as if that's always more important than the sports aspect. Baseball is difficult to watch with dance music, and the monitors are small, making score and stats hard to see from the tables. The crowd during baseball games is mixed with men and women, which I'm okay with since the women are actual fans rather than dance music fans, and this dilutes the heavy drinking party crowd common on the strip. I prefer watching Saturday afternoon baseball at The Hidden Door because they let you turn up the game audio if you ask, and there's usually a group of fans there. The DJs at Woody's won't do that. On a negative note, a few years back during a Rangers championship game, they switched all monitors to dance rave media during a 20-minute rain delay, leaving not a single screen for sports during a playoff game. That's when I gave up on it as a sports bar, though I've stopped in on weekends for Rangers games and had some decent experiences without sound, helped by the presence of lesbian fans I enjoyed talking to. On the plus side, the bar sponsors a softball team and hosts Pegasus PSSA awards events, which helps its sports bar image, and it's fun at season's end when the place is full of athletes and has a great energy. Otherwise, it's just another bar on the strip and not really a sports bar for watching games, which is unfortunate because Dallas deserves a gay bar venue that is genuinely committed to sports.

“A fun place to hang out”
I've been coming here more often lately. I like the staff and the crowd is relaxed. There's always a good atmosphere. They have shows during the week and a fun campy show tune event on Tuesday nights. I don't know most of what they show, but the crowd is almost always lively and having fun. I also enjoy their comedy on Friday nights. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.
