About

Bar: Full barBest nights: Fri, Sat, Sun

Club Try-Angles has been Salt Lake City's friendly late-night gay haven since 2002, intentionally opened as a community hub rather than just a bar. The retro-styled spot keeps things low-key with cheap drinks, pool tables, and an outdoor patio where regulars mix with newcomers.

Karaoke nights and weekend DJs draw a 30s-40s crowd, but the real local lore involves underwear night and the drag queen pool shark. Best nights are Friday through Sunday, and the cafe next door opens after hours on weekends for late-night eats. It's divey and casual with a full bar, exactly the kind of place where you can chill or join a game.

Located in Salt Lake City's Central neighborhood, this bar is a staple among local LGBTQ spots.

“Friendly neighbourhood bar”

This is a friendly, low-key bar that doesn't have the pretentiousness of big city spots. Drinks and pool are cheap, and there's usually a game happening, so add your name to the board if you want to join in—but be careful of a drag queen who's a pool shark. They have karaoke nights and a weekend DJ. We missed underwear night by a week, but it was fun on earlier visits. A cafe next door opens after the bar closes on Friday and Saturday nights for late-night hangover prevention meals. Definitely worth checking out if you want something more relaxed.

“Chill hang out spot”

This is a great place to hang out and chill with friends. Everyone is either friendly or keeps to themselves. The bartenders are nice and friendly, and prices are good. There's a dance floor, but I've never seen people dancing on it—though the latest I've been there on a weekend night was around 10:30 pm. I don't get there on weekends often, so I usually go on weekday evenings. Still a nice little spot if you want to relax or hang out with friends. They also have a jukebox with a lot of good song choices.

“Horrid Place”

This bar is a grimy hole in the wall. Skip karaoke night because the host acts like he owns the place since he's cozy with the owner. He lets one person submit five songs and sing them all before letting anyone else into the rotation, claiming it's based on submission order. He also drones on, repeating the same catchphrases like 'let's hear it for...' and 'nice job...'
