The Club St. Louis

Bathhouses · St. Louis, MO

About

You might expect a bathhouse to be just a steam room and maybe a sauna, but The Club St. Louis layers on a full gym, a sky-lit Jacuzzi, tanning beds, and an adult film lounge. The Club St. Louis, also known as Club STL, is a men's club in downtown St. Louis with a dedicated local following. It's dog-friendly and offers 24-hour access, so you can visit whenever it fits your schedule. The membership model keeps costs reasonable: about $15 for a three-month membership plus $12 for a locker rental.

Regulars note the facility could use some updates, and the private rooms are small. The steam sauna is a highlight, though the shower count is limited. Reviews mention a mixed-age crowd, with a notable number of older men. The music policy has drawn some criticism for playing pop and show tunes rather than something more ambient, which may or may not bother you. If you go, expect a relaxed, no-pressure vibe regardless of your age or type.

Fun place any evening, even if you just want to soak in the hot tub and chat. My only gripe is that many younger guys walk around with attitude. I'm not into younger men, but they act like I or other older guys are chasing them. I prefer mature, responsible, thoughtful men my own age, not the self-centered generation. Overall, it's very enjoyable, and the staff is friendly.

Sometimes it's okay, but there are many older guys and those who don't fit in, lots of depressed and overweight men. Every time I go, when I'm in the mood to socialize, seeing them ruins it.

“Decent for Midwest/Music=Cock Block”

The Club is indeed a clean and relaxed space. I went for the first time two days ago, having read many reviews beforehand so I knew what to expect. Membership is $15 for three months plus a $12 locker rental, which are reasonable prices. There are plenty of areas to explore inside the Club. The rooms are small, and the whole place could use some renovation, but that will likely happen over time. The steam sauna is excellent. I only saw four showers, and given the traffic, they definitely need two or three times that many. The adult film lounge is fun. My only complaints are: be prepared for a lot of older men, mostly aged 55 to 70. For every guy between 25 and 40, there are two in that older range. But they weren't pushy. My biggest complaint is the terrible music. The staff plays music over the loudspeakers. I was hoping for chill instrumental beats to set the mood, but instead they played Kelly Clarkson, and a track from Wicked. Most of the music was female vocalists and pop bubblegum stuff. I don't want to hear women's voices at an all-men's club when I'm trying to enjoy myself. You might think I'm overreacting, but try relaxing in a steam bath while hearing a cover of Coldplay in the style of Ariana Grande, or Aqua's Barbie Girl. The music does not help set a masculine mood. I really hope the staff reads this and considers changing the playlist to make the experience better. There's a time and place for Broadway tunes, but not when I'm trying to get in the mood.

“Good to be back in STL”

I spend winters away somewhere warm and sunny; this year I was at my condo in Hawaii. During my six months away, I visited Max's Gym & Spa, which is the only bathhouse option there. Max's is overpriced, understaffed, and has no pool or sundeck. The crowd is hit-or-miss, which is expected. Men, be grateful that Club St. Louis is available for your fun. They run a good club for men. The staff is generally friendly and attractive, and some are willing to play if you get the right guy and conditions are right. My only complaint is the rooms: they are small and uncomfortable, and they need large mirrors across from the bed to add to the fun. I can't wait to get back to Club St. Louis, especially when the pool is open. Keep up the good work, guys.
