“Last minute stay”

We pulled over when we spotted the Manor Inn. At the front desk there was a business card, so I called the cell number. I booked it for one night, had dinner and drinks at a gay bar within walking distance. Nothing more to say than thanks for the pleasant stay.

“A total dump!”

The ad says it's a quaint property with refined rooms and excellent service, but that's completely false. This place is a dump that should be torn down and rebuilt. It's a shame that businesses can advertise without any oversight. Honestly, it's not worth more than $69 a night, not the $169 they charge. The renovations are shoddy, the beds are uncomfortable, and aside from the location, it offers nothing but disappointment.

“A dump!”

Don't stay here unless you absolutely have to. The rooms are tiny and full of cheap, broken items. Paint is peeling from the ceiling. The pool area has broken furniture, and there are creepy people hanging around. And it costs $145 a night! It's a pigsty. If the owner hadn't made me prepay for three nights with no refund, I'd leave immediately. Worst place ever. Lesson learned.

“Avoid this place”

Upon checking in, I discovered my reservation had been altered without my permission, resulting in a non-refundable extra charge of $80. This place is not a tropical resort; it's someone's fairly nice older house where they rent out their spare bedrooms and two more next door. The walls are extremely thin, so you hear the owner's television all night. No blankets are provided and the heater barely works. Between the eerie, funeral-home-like atmosphere, the noise, and the cold, I got no sleep and caught a bad cold the first night. I left and forfeited the non-refundable $340 for the remaining two nights. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else.

“No car? No problem”

The gay area of Wilton Manors is a series of bars along a busy highway strip. If you want to go out without risking a DUI, the Manor Inn is one of the few options. The building's exterior looks worn down, with overgrown plants and peeling paint. However, my room was clean, though it had thrift shop furniture and mismatched towels. There was an old computer and an equally outdated sound system with a cassette deck, but there was also a flat screen television and free wireless internet. Breakfast was very simple: coffee, orange juice, packaged rolls, yogurt, and fruit. I rarely saw the owner-manager, and when I did, he didn't seem very concerned about whether I was enjoying my stay. Overall, I had a good time at some bars and restaurants, but I don't really want to return to either the town or the bed and breakfast.
