Aloft Chicago O'Hare

About
Aloft Chicago O'Hare is best for travelers needing a pet-friendly, 24-hour base near the airport or Rosemont Theatre. The free shuttle runs until midnight, making it easier to get around without a car. Guests consistently note the hotel is super gay-friendly, with a modern, welcoming vibe and a social bar that actually draws a crowd.
Located in the suburbs, getting to Boystown takes about an hour by train, but the hotel's amenities make up for the distance. Breakfast includes made-to-order options like a hot egg sandwich for $4. The gym and pool are open around the clock. Just know there's no hot tub, and the only ice machine is on the second floor. The signature scent in the elevators is divisive, but the 24-hour staff and clean, modern decor win most guests over.

“not convenient, but nice”
Getting around from the Aloft via public transit is inconvenient, but there's a free shuttle until midnight, and after that a cab to or from the train station costs about $7 or $8. Aside from that, the hotel is extremely gay-friendly, though it lacks a hot tub, and the only ice machine is on the second floor, which is a bit out of the way. I'm still unsure about the hotel's signature scent that fills the elevators. On the positive side, they have an actual cook during breakfast hours, and while $4 for an egg sandwich isn't cheap, having hot, good food is really nice. The front desk is staffed 24 hours a day. Lots of gay guests stay here, and the hotel bar actually has a decent crowd. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'll pay more for a better location next time just to avoid hour-long train rides to the gay neighborhood, but if that's not an issue, I really recommend the Aloft. Oh, and the decor is great—very modern. We love it.
