House 5863
Bed & Breakfast · Chicago, IL
About
Forget the typical B&B where the host greets you at the door. House 5863 (formerly Ardmore House) offers a more independent stay in a beautifully restored Victorian home in Edgewater. This LGBT-oriented property feels more like renting an apartment — you check in via a key box, and you might never see the host. The house is tastefully decorated throughout, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A continental breakfast is set out each morning, and guests can borrow mountain bikes to explore the lakefront trail.
The neighborhood feels safe and is just a short walk to the Red Line for easy access to the rest of Chicago. Parking is available in a garage, a real plus in the city. If you're looking for a B&B that lets you set your own pace without the fuss of constant interaction, this is it.

“Loved our stay!”
Brad and I had an excellent trip, and we really appreciate the wonderful hospitality and all the helpful suggestions about the neighborhood, nightlife, and dining spots. Every day was full of adventure. We especially loved taking the mountain bikes out to explore the lakefront. We'll definitely be back...PROMISE!

“Beautiful House”
My girlfriend and I checked out this place's website and decided to try it since we enjoy staying at bed and breakfasts now and then. We were not let down. It is an attractive old home, and when we arrived there was a welcome box with our key for the room we booked. The room and the whole house were nicely decorated. It felt cozy, and they did a good job making us feel comfortable. The only unusual thing was that we never met the host, but a continental breakfast was set out each morning, which was nice. The area was good, and we felt secure walking a short way to the subway, where we got a two-day visitor pass that took us everywhere. There was a garage where we parked our car. We would definitely recommend this place to others.
