Majestic Hotel

Hotel · Chicago, IL

About

Unlike most Boystown hotels, the Majestic occupies a converted 1920s apartment building, giving it a scale between a bed and breakfast and a full-service property. The fire-lit lobby and bold English estate decor set a calm, upscale tone. It's a mixed-gaystraight hotel with a quiet, all-ages vibe. A more generous continental breakfast than many hotels is complemented by "cookie time" in the late afternoon. Coffee and tea flow 24/7. The staff is friendly but unobtrusive, and the building sits on a quiet residential street. You can walk to the lake in one direction or reach Boystown action in just a few blocks the other way. Regulars note this is the spot they return to with their partners, and the Lake Shore Drive express buses make downtown access fast.

The Majestic is in Lakeview, Chicago's primary LGBTQ+ neighborhood, on a quiet residential street near the lake. Boystown's bars, restaurants, and nightlife are just a few blocks away.

“Great Place!”

It's larger than a typical bed and breakfast but smaller than a hotel, with a personal touch thanks to the friendly yet unobtrusive staff who aim to make you feel at ease. The building was once an apartment complex, situated near the lake on a quiet street that offers easy walking access to the main roads in the neighborhood. You can head toward a lake view in one direction or reach the lively area by walking a few blocks the other way. The interior may seem understated to some, but we appreciated the blend of modern furniture with 1920s architecture. The continental breakfast is more generous than many, plus there's a cookie time in the late afternoon. Coffee and tea are available around the clock, which was convenient for my schedule. Having stayed at several places in and around the area, this is the one my partner and I will choose again.

“Great Boystown Boutique hotel”

A stunning hotel with excellent staff and a good breakfast. It's a clean, quiet spot in the neighborhood, right off Lake Shore Drive. The location is lovely—a small residential street near the lake, and the express buses along Lake Shore Drive make getting downtown quick and easy. We absolutely loved it here.
