“Worth it.”
As suburbanites from Indiana, we chose to take a one-night getaway in Chicago. We wanted a hotel near the attractions we planned to visit, and the Sutton Place Hotel was perfectly located. (It's worth checking for deals and comparing room types, as prices can vary a lot.) The lobby felt dim and the check-in staff seemed cold, but the room greatly improved our mood. The elevator was impressively fast. Our Deluxe King Room had plenty of space and a nice view of Rush Street. The bathroom was unusually large for a hotel, with a tub that could fit two people. The room came with a good sound system and a few CDs, but the discs were scratched and skipped frequently. The hotel's location is ideal for exploring Rush Street without much walking. We ate at Gibsons, had drinks at Dublin's Pub, and heard jazz at The Back Room, all within half a block. After a few drinks, we went back to our room. Soaking in the tub was a great way to relax. The bed was comfortable with soft pillows, and the air conditioning was quiet and kept the room cool. In the morning, we went to The Original Pancake House across the street, where the apple pancakes were excellent. Again, the hotel's location was our main reason for choosing it. When we checked out after a wonderful stay, we were shocked by the $40 per day valet parking fee, which seemed too high for hotel guests. Overall, we had a great time and plan to return to Sutton Place on our next trip to Rush Street.
