“Terrible service, mean and cruel”

Someone called me out of the blue and launched into a personal attack for no clear reason. It felt like the person I dealt with went out of their way to make me feel terrible for no good reason. I can't handle personal attacks, so I won't be recommending this place to anyone.

“Sweet & Sour”

This place is on the east end of town, so you'll need to walk a good distance to reach the bars and nightlife, or rent a bike. There is no parking on site; you'll have to walk about four blocks to a public lot or pay $15 to $20 per day for one of their two reserved spaces in a small private lot. The hot tub is gone and has been for a while, apparently removed before this review was written. The patio looks nice but gets locked at 11 PM, which seems odd. The rooms are generally very small, with creaky, squeaky beds that let the whole house know when you're having sex. There's hardly any space for storing clothes or luggage, no desk or chair, and a small TV placed awkwardly so it's hard to watch from bed. The pillows and linens were fine, but the mattress was too firm and I didn't sleep well. Breakfast was decent with granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice, and fruit and nut bread. Bedrooms on the second floor share bathrooms. The AC units were hard to set, made a lot of noise, and had visible mildew. The fridge in the room was a nice touch, but the condenser was too loud and I would have unplugged it if I hadn't had drinks inside. If you're a heavy sleeper who's not picky, you'll be okay; if you want more space and comfort, this isn't for you. The hosts were generally helpful and friendly, though one of them rarely smiled and always seemed preoccupied. Soap and shampoo are liquid and in containers on the shower wall, so bring your own bar if you prefer that. I'd only stay again if I had no other option and would much rather get a small cottage or studio next time.

“Highly Recommended”

I strongly recommend the Captain's House here in town. It's clean and comfortable, and the staff are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They offer a continental breakfast from 8 to 11 in the morning, and there's a small outdoor patio with a hot tub. Best of all, unlike many other hotels and inns in the area, this place was affordable and didn't require us to stay more than the one night we needed. We will definitely return!
