“Best bet for corporate traveler”

I was bored and hungry on a business trip, so I took my Bon Appetit magazine to the Hotel Monaco's restaurant, hoping to use my expense account on a decent meal. It turned out to be a fantastic surprise. I chose the counter seat by the open kitchen to watch the chefs work. If you ever think about becoming a chef, observe the intense effort to perfect each plate while colleagues communicate under pressure. The tension is real. Why do they do it? When the food arrives, you understand. Each bite makes you look up, expecting to see an Italian grandmother in that chef's apron because the flavors are so authentic, yet the presentation is modern and seasonal. The house-made pasta is divine—yellow tagliatelle with a rich tomato cream meat sauce, which the chef proudly said was made in-house with four different meats. The meal made such an impression that I skipped other places I'd read about to try everything I wanted on the menu. Everything was equally excellent, and the chefs even gave me tastes of other dishes, happy to see me return. I left my magazine in the room—the show was too good to miss.
