About

At first glance, Peter Pan Diner looks like a classic American diner, but its reputation as a late-night greasy spoon draws a mixed crowd, including many gay men. The menu sticks to standard American diner fare, with a focus on breakfast and brunch all day. Recent reviews describe the atmosphere as rundown and the staff as rude, with one owner reportedly dismissive of complaints. The diner is a longtime staple in Oakland Park, though its condition and service have declined.

The diner is open 6am to 11pm daily according to Yelp, but other sources claim 24-hour service on weekends, so hours may vary. Prices are moderate, and the food is described as plentiful and reasonably priced. If you're looking for a late-night bite, this might still be an option, but temper expectations about the experience.

I started going to Peter Pan 30 years ago but stopped about five years back because it was run-down and filthy. I decided to give it another chance, but nothing has changed; it's still rundown and dirty. On top of that, the staff is rude. My food came out too quickly, and when I mentioned it to my waitress, she got rude and defensive, walking away while I was still talking. I think her name was Alexandria. I asked to speak to the manager, who came over and switched my server to someone very nice. To make a point, I gave the nice server a 60% tip. As I was leaving, I spoke with Geronimo, who I thought was the manager but later learned is one of the owners. He was rude and basically told me to get over it, saying he had been there since 6 AM and how dare I bother him with a problem. With an owner like that, I can see why the staff is rude.

It has a relaxed diner vibe with a standard diner menu. The service is attentive, portions are generous, and prices are reasonable. Great for late-night cravings.
