About

Walk into a converted IHOP, and you'll find Thai Me Up, formerly Galanga Thai Kitchen & Sushi Bar, in Wilton Manors. The space still has that quirky diner feel but now serves a blend of Thai, sushi, and fusion dishes. The food is reliably good, with options like chicken red curry that hit the right spice level. Service can be slower, so come with patience and a friend. Prices are moderate, and the outdoor seating is a plus on a Florida evening.

This spot is great for a low-key date or a quiet dinner away from the main strip. Locals note it's become a straight-friendly place offering a non-threatening gay experience. The menu includes sushi, though some regulars stick to Thai. Late-nite hours mean you can eat here after other places close. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.

Located in Wilton Manors, this restaurant is just off the main strip, offering a quieter alternative to busier spots.

Galanga is a quiet dining spot just off the main strip. They serve a solid Thai menu with sushi and some traditional choices. The food is decent, reasonably priced, and a nice option for a dinner with a friend. Friendly service, good for dates, reservations suggested, and trendy.

“Hit or Miss”

I've lived nearby for years, and I've seen this place change owners more often than Liza changes husbands. It was excellent about four years ago, but then major staff turnover happened and really damaged the quality. Now it's just a straight-friendly spot where people can have a safe, low-key gay experience. The setting is nice—it's a converted old pancake house—but the food and service are always off. For the prices they charge, everything should be spot on.

“Good Thai in a Gay Mecca”

I've visited Galanga several times, most recently on a Sunday night. The atmosphere is still nice and the food is good. I ordered Miso Soup and Chicken Red Curry at medium spice with Brown Rice. The spice level was perfect for someone who likes a little heat, and the flavor was excellent. There was plenty of chicken in the curry, and the vegetables were crisp. My total came to around $25. Service was timely, though the place is known for being slow. My friends enjoyed their meals too. I've never tried the sushi because I don't consider it a sushi bar.
