About
In Andersonville, Anteprima serves farm-to-table rustic Italian cuisine with a focus on small plates and seafood. The decor is warm and romantic, though the space is snug and can get noisy on busy nights. A weekday 3-course meal for 29 dollars offers solid value, but full-price dishes sometimes feel simple for the cost.
The back patio is a highlight on warm days, offering a more relaxed setting. Service has drawn mixed feedback, with some visits marked by slow pacing. Regulars recommend sticking to the prix fixe deal if you want the best bang for your buck.
Anteprima is located in Andersonville, a Chicago neighborhood known for its LGBTQ-friendly atmosphere and independent shops and restaurants.

“Never again”
The service here is pretty bad. This spot is overhyped, the food wasn't good and took forever to arrive even though it wasn't busy. The dessert was terrible and seemed stale. I won't be coming back.

“I Don't Get the Hype”
A lot of people seem to adore this place, but I honestly don't get it. Like another reviewer said, I really want to like it, but after four or more visits, I'm still not impressed. It's expensive for food that feels bland, and you'd better get along with your neighbors because the tables are super close together. Cozy is an understatement. Chicago has plenty of great restaurants, and this one is just consistently mediocre to me.

“A decent Italian option”
I've visited Anteprima about three times now. I live nearby and really want to like it, but it hasn't fully impressed me yet. I appreciate the concept of simple rustic Italian food, but sometimes it feels too plain for the cost. The best bet is the weekday three-course special for $29, which I've tried before—that makes it a four-star experience. But at full price, you might feel a bit disappointed. The space looks great, it's usually loud at night, service is fine, and the back patio is lovely on a warm day. For me to keep returning, I need to be amazed either by the food or the value.
