About
Clarke's Off Campus is a BIPOC-owned and women-led diner in Evanston serving classic American fare. Its foliage-adorned patio makes it a trans-friendly spot for people-watching while you grab a burger or Belgian waffle. The vibe is casual and good for groups, with a focus on breakfast, brunch, and comfort food.
It's right near the El, so it's easy to pop in before or after a ride. While the patio is a highlight, the interior is cozy too. If you're in the area, Girl & The Goat is another nearby option for a different vibe.

“DONT EAT HERE!”
I visited Clarke's a few weeks ago and accidentally left my iPhone on the table. As we were heading to the train, I realized it was missing, so we rushed back. Our plates were still there, but the phone was gone. We asked the busboy and our waiter, both said they hadn't seen it, and suggested we talk to the manager. Before doing that, I used a friend's phone to locate mine via the Find My iPhone app, which showed it was still inside Clarke's. I approached the manager and asked if anyone had turned in an iPhone; he said no. I told him we had just left, the app showed it was in the building, and asked him to check with staff. He again said they didn't have it. I then sent a ping to my phone, and the manager's shirt pocket lit up like a Christmas tree and started pinging. He had my iPhone and was trying to steal it. I told him to give it back or I'd call the police. In short: avoid Clarke's in Boys Town and Evanston. They employ dishonest people who lie and steal.

Plus all the wild stuff that went down at Berlin nightclub on the same block... you can also spot some attractive people from nearby Wrigleyville.
