About

First thing you'll notice is the water. Sal's Place sits right on a dock in Provincetown's West End, with a shoreline view of moored boats. This is old-school Italian fare in a relaxed setting that's both casual and upscale. The menu leans coastal Italian with seafood, and the outdoor seating is ideal for a date or a quiet afternoon lunch. It's dog friendly too.

The carbonara draws praise for being rich and fantastic. Stuffed mushrooms are another favorite. But a single review alleges an anti-gay incident with the owner, a claim that contradicts the venue's mixed-gay-straight tag. Hours are limited to evenings Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations are recommended; call the number provided.

Located in Provincetown's West End, Sal's Place offers a quieter dining experience away from the busier Commercial Street crowds.

“Decent Italian food”

This restaurant serves classic Italian food and might not compete with options in larger cities, but its simplicity and charm win you over, especially the view. Situated on a dock, it's a great outdoor spot with a beautiful view of the waterfront and moored boats. The service was friendly and efficient. Our favorite dishes were the stuffed mushrooms and carbonara.

“Recommend against it”

We had a couple of okay meals here last summer. The carbonara is rich but fantastic. But be warned, the owner seems very anti-gay and confrontational. During one visit, he yelled at our group saying 'we never liked you people anyway.' Take that as you will.

“I should have had something else”

The food was boring. It was very crowded. The owner and waitstaff were rude. I won't go back!

“Real Home Cooked Italian”

The atmosphere is a bit lacking, but being right on the water is nice. Very old-school, home-style Italian food. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was more than adequate. Definitely give it a try if you're in the mood for Italian comfort food.
