“Very good value”
This spot is unique and central, blending Southern cooking with an eclectic vibe—very gay and family-friendly. The staff is nice, and the entree prices are unbeatable. It reminded me of Crazy Fish, about a mile down Central, but The Dish is better established and right in the neighborhood's heart. Be careful bringing a first date here if they're a snob; I brought a guy who acted stuck-up, so this isn't for snobs. LOL, it's really a down-to-earth place with decent food and great value, so you'll be satisfied. I promise.

“Lesbian Chic!”
Really crazy good down-home cooking. Not typical gay diet food (I'm from NYC, we don't eat this), but this is Charlotte, y'all, and it's awesome. I had the pork chops (I prefer thick-cut, these are thin) but the glaze was fantastic—some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had, and a thick, rich mac and cheese. My partner had the blackened chicken with sweet potato mash and green beans; he loved them. The sweet potato mash was the sweetest, brown-sugary mash ever. A cute touch: every entree comes with a deviled egg and the most buttery, heavy, delicious biscuit. A local told us it's owned and run by a lesbian couple. Support this restaurant—not just because it's gay, but because it's really, really good.
