About
300 East is best for anyone wanting a cozy, gay-friendly spot for seasonal American fare with a Southern twist. This restaurant operates out of a renovated Dilworth house, giving it an intimate, homelike feel. The kitchen sources locally and changes menus seasonally, offering dishes like baked marinated Vermont goat cheese and housemade ice cream. Weekend brunch has its own separate menu, drawing a mixed gay-straight crowd that values good food over flash.
The upstairs dining room is small and can get noisy with large parties, so ask for a downstairs table if you want quieter conversation. Service is consistently warm and professional. Outdoor seating is available when weather cooperates. It's a short walk from Common Market if you want to extend the evening.
300 East is located in Southend, just outside uptown Charlotte, near Cleveland Ave. The area is known for its walkability and mix of restaurants and bars.

“So so”
I booked ahead and requested a quiet, private table for our anniversary. They put us upstairs at a cramped little table near big groups, making it hard to talk. The food arrived cold, and the ice cream on our dessert was half melted when it came. The server was very kind, so that was a positive. I'd consider giving it another chance, though I'm not eager.

We waited for a while with no server coming, so we decided to leave.

“300 East”
An older house has been turned into a welcoming gay-friendly restaurant. The vibe is friendly, service was great, and the food was excellent. I brought my mother, who was visiting from the West Coast, and she loved it and wants to go back next time she's in town. If you haven't been, definitely check it out.
