Border Grill Mandalay Bay
Mexican · Seafood · Las Vegas, NV
About
You'll find a mixed-gay-straight crowd of 20-somethings and 30-somethings at Border Grill Mandalay Bay, a bright and airy taqueria run by Food Network hosts Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken. This women-led spot on the Strip serves innovative Mexican and seafood dishes with a street-food edge, from tamales to ceviches. The vibe is casual yet upscale, with outdoor seating overlooking the Mandalay Bay pool.
Small plates are the way to go here, offering a quick bite or a full dinner. Service can be hit or miss at the bar, but the chips and salsas are wonderful, and the pork in tomatillo sauce is a standout. Prices are moderate but on the higher side for Mexican food. You'll walk a bit from parking, but the lively atmosphere makes it worth it. Just down the strip, Mon Ami Gabi is another great option for a meal.
Located on the Las Vegas Strip, this venue is inside the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino, with easy access to other Strip attractions.

“not your daddys mex joint”
If you grew up eating at Del Taco or Taco Bell, I feel sorry for you, and you should get your stomach pumped. Border Grill serves nouvelle Mexican food rather than traditional taqueria fare, but it's excellent and definitely worth the long walk through the Mandalay Bay tourist crowds.

“Mexican food with a twist”
The food offers a different take on standard Mexican cuisine, interesting and flavorful. The chips and salsas were wonderful, and the small plates are the best. Service at the bar was poor both times I ate there, which is my only criticism. The decor is modern and just okay, but the pool view from the main dining room is nice. The coffee was good. The food is quite expensive. You have to walk a long way from the Mandalay parking lot and even farther from the street. Overall, a pleasant, different version of Mexican food.

“FABULOUSLY WONDERFUL”
We had lunch there and sampled a bit of everything. Each dish was exciting, tasty, and wonderful. The food presentation was great. The service was excellent in a pleasant atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside. This is the perfect spot for the best Mexican dining experience in Las Vegas, or even in the entire state, or even in the Midwest!

“Worth a Trip”
I went for brunch and had sabanitas and Mexican beer, with a great selection. The food was very good, and the service staff was great. I need to try dinner before giving it the top rating, but I'm pretty sure I would.

“Not to Miss”
This place is a hit. We're from Texas, so we know authentic Mexican food. The owners have a winner here. You can stop in for a quick bite or better yet, have dinner with some amazing appetizers. The pork with green tomatillo sauce is outstanding, as is their mole. The service is also excellent.
