About

Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace isn't your standard hot dog joint. With more than 10 unique variations — from olive and cream cheese to sriracha coleslaw — plus veggie dogs, it's a downtown Columbus staple from the folks behind Betty's Fine Food and Spirits and Surly Girl Saloon. The decor is kitschy and cute, the crowd is mixed (gay couples, straight families, young and old), and there's cold beer and alcoholic slushies.

Hours vary by day — Tuesday through Thursday open 11am to 11pm, while Friday and Saturday stay open until 1am. Metered parking is out front. It can get busy, so expect a wait. If you're in the area, Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails is another nearby option.

“Love this place!”

Dirty Frank's is downtown, which is farther from the Short North where I usually go, but it's worth the trip. The drinks were nicely priced, the crowd was diverse (gay couples, straight families, various ages), and the staff were excellent. I can't recall the name of the hot dog I got—maybe it was the Rhine or something similar—but it was spicy and tasty.

“Who could have guessed hot dogs would be so hip?”

There's a huge variety of toppings for a standard hot dog. The hot dogs themselves are excellent, and the topping choices are incredible. You have to try this place, but expect a wait since it can get crowded.

“Kitschy beer and brats on a budget diner”

From the same person who created Betty's Fine Food and Spirits and Surly Girl Saloon comes Dirty Franks Hot Dog Palace. This hot dog diner is located downtown in the Red Brick District and is excellent. There are over ten unique hot dog variations, including ones topped with olives and cream cheese or sriracha coleslaw and corn relish. They also offer classic options like tater tots, chili dogs, and mac and cheese. There's a large beer selection and alcoholic slushies. The decor is kitschy and cute. It's family friendly with metered parking out front.
