About

Step into a retro downtown diner with eclectic Ohio memorabilia on the walls. This spot occupies the former location of The Vine, a now-defunct gay bar, and comes from the same restaurant group behind Surly Girl Saloon and Betty's Fine Food + Spirits. You'll find Ohio Comfort Food alongside one of the city's largest whiskey lists. The menu includes standout pot roast, fried green beans, and a vegan bean dip. Breakfast is served on weekends.

Open daily until 1am, it's a solid late-night stop near Third Street. The vibe is unpretentious and welcoming, with pinball, microbrews, and a playlist heavy on local music. If you're exploring downtown, Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace is a nearby alternative for a more casual bite.

“cheap ingredients”

The food reminds me of cheap hospital meals, definitely not what you'd expect from a chef.

“Great Place For Drinks”

The food and drinks are excellent, and the atmosphere is great. I love the fried green beans, sweet potato fries, and the pot roast sandwich. Their weekend breakfast is amazing too.

“Ohio-centric dining spruces up the downtown scene”

Walking into Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails, a retro downtown diner that now occupies the space of the former gay bar The Vine, you'll see the walls are covered with eclectic memorabilia celebrating local history. Opened in mid-2007, it comes from the same feminist restaurateur behind The Surly Girl Saloon and Betty's Fine Food + Spirits. The menu features classic American diner fare with highlights including a flavorful pot roast, a tasty vegan bean dip served with vegetables, and a rich caramelized onion soup. The bar also offers one of the city's largest and most varied selections of whiskey.
