Barnaby's Cafe

Huge selection of burgers, excellent salads like the Salsalito Crunch, tasty entrees such as lasagna, and my favorite meatloaf anywhere. The original spot in Montrose is very gay and the best, but newer locations elsewhere in the city are also excellent and more spacious. Even with multiple branches, the food stays consistently delicious, and service is always warm and relaxed. Expanding beyond the gay neighborhood hasn't made them lose their gay identity—rainbows are still displayed everywhere with pride. Friendly service and yummy food.

“Wish we'd been able to try”

Someone else mentioned waits on weekends, and I'd say that also applies to weekday mornings. We were in a hurry so we didn't get to try the menu, which is why I'm giving a neutral rating.

“Can't go Wrong with Barnaby's”

No matter which location you visit, the food is consistently excellent, and every menu item is a safe bet. Large portions, nice vibe, staff that's welcoming to all, and fair prices. I always look forward to dining here.

“Why Not?”

It's convenient for breakfast, and the menu, though it hasn't changed much in ten years (but how many variations of french toast can there be?), is still solid. Luckily, there's a good mix of carb-heavy options and low-fat high-protein choices. The bacon is usually tough and chewy, so I skip it, but the apple pork sausages are very good. Nice breakfast crowd to observe.

“Awesome!”

Both Baby Barnaby's and the original Barnaby's on Fairview are excellent. The burgers are fantastic, breakfast is superb, the staff are lively, and prices are reasonable. Come for brunch after a night out, and you won't regret it.
