About
Rumor has it the restaurant's namesake, Helen, was a lesbian. Helen's Restaurant, established in 1935, operates out of a former 1912 pharmacy. The bar scene leans youthful and lively, with a diverse mixed-gay-straight crowd. Friday night gay happy hour packs the bar with people drinking the best cosmos in town. Dinner tables go to diners, but the kitchen stays open, letting you watch cooks at work.
The menu blends American, Southern, fusion, Latin Spanish, and Mexican influences. They serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. The outdoor seating is dog friendly. Reservations are accepted. If you're in the mood for more options, Bottoms Up Pizza is nearby and offers a different scene.

“Best Cosmos and drinks in town”
The best gay happy hour in town happens at the bar here on Friday nights. Tables are saved for those having dinner, but the few bar seats are filled with a mixed crowd enjoying the best cosmos around. If you do sit down to eat, the food is excellent. The open kitchen lets customers see the attractive cooks, and the weekend waiter is very cute. Check out their online presence; there's also a rumor that the restaurant's namesake, Helen, was a lesbian.
