“Beautiful Structure in a Serene Location”
The Jefferson Memorial isn't as centrally located as other D.C. monuments, which I think adds to its appeal. It sits in West Potomac Park along the Tidal Basin. In spring, the famous cherry blossoms frame it. I find the building architecturally stunning—its neoclassical design was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. If you don't go inside to see the bronze statue of Thomas Jefferson, at least drive through Potomac Park to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
