Walk in and you'll notice the rustic Old West feel, a patio that's actually huge, and a separate room for drag shows. The Rock has been a Central Phoenix staple since 2009, formerly La Roca, and it's kept its divey charm while adding karaoke, darts, and tabletop arcade games.
The full bar and daily happy hour keep regulars coming back. Best nights here are Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, but Sunday and Monday bring karaoke and drag performers who've been part of the place for years. A short walk from Charlie's Phoenix , The Rock makes a solid stop if you're bar-hopping through the Melrose District. It's old, it's fun, and it's got plenty of smoke on the patio.

I always have a good time here. The best time to go is Sunday or Monday night for karaoke and drag shows—it's a blast. Great music, fun crowd, excellent happy hour, strong drinks, and it's a total dive.

There are really attractive men here, but only on certain nights or during blackout parties. I still haven't figured out the pattern.

“authentic and old school”
I had to give this place extra stars. The bar is so old and rustic, it reminds me of the Stonewall in New York. There's one bar, a separate performance room with drag queens as old as the place, and a decent-sized patio for smokers. It's fun and has a charm that most others lack.
