About

Bar: Full barBest nights: Wed, Fri, Sat

The dance floor is the main event here. Rich's, San Diego's largest and oldest gay nightclub, keeps crowds moving to house and pop remixes every weekend, with go-go boys adding to the energy. The STUNT Sunday party blends drag, ballroom, and high-energy music, drawing a welcoming crowd that regulars rave about.

Open Wednesday through Sunday until 2am (4am on Saturdays), it's a Hillcrest anchor for late-night dancing. Yelp confirms outdoor seating, a full bar, free wifi, and even dog-friendly access, though weekends get packed and hot. It's mostly a 20s-30s crowd, so come ready to sweat.

Rich's anchors the Hillcrest neighborhood, a central hub for San Diego's LGBTQ+ nightlife.

Rich's has a storied history in San Diego, and the experience can vary depending on the night or event, but in my opinion, the Sunday night event STUNT is one of the most amazing queer bar nights anywhere, combining drag, ballroom, and fantastic music in an exciting and welcoming atmosphere. Great music and a fun crowd.

The atmosphere was bad, rowdy, and it felt like a total dive bar.

“The place for juveniles”

The moment you walk into Rich's, your first thought is probably 'Where are the adults?' This place is for young people and adults who act like children. The patrons are mostly uneducated lower-class people with delusions. Bartenders are rude, and the DJs are almost always terrible. Stay away.

“Visiting from Texas during Pride 2014”

This is the ultimate dance club. The DJs keep you moving on the floor until you can't anymore. Naturally, on busy nights and special events, it gets very crowded and hot, which is expected. Lots of attractive people to look at. I plan to buy a VIP weekend pass for Pride, which works out perfectly and saves money.

“Good And Hot”

My partner and I visited two months ago and had a great time. The dance floor is spacious, the guys are attractive, and the drinks are strong. I recommend it if you like dancing and cruising. We were with local friends, so the doormen recognized them and let us skip the line.
