About

Club Diversity feels like an actual house party, set inside an old Victorian with a front porch, piano bar, and gazebo in back. This gay venue in Columbus's German Village draws a crowd that skews 40s and older, with live entertainment and themed movie nights as regular draws.

The back patio is popular, though smokers gather there. Weekend hours stretch until 2:30am, giving you time to settle in. The bartender charges can be inconsistent, so keep an eye on your tab. Nearby Union Cafe Bar offers another option if you want to change scenery.

Located in Columbus's German Village, a historic neighborhood known for its brick streets and local charm.

“Join The Club....”

Club Diversity has a very homey atmosphere. It's an old Victorian house with a porch, piano bar, and a gazebo in the backyard, making it feel like you're at a cool house party. The staff are friendly, and they offer live entertainment and themed movie nights. It could stay open later, but for now, it's still a great spot.

“A bit disappointed”

I checked out Club Diversity's website, liked what I saw, and planned to visit on my next trip to Columbus. The place is nice, but overall, people there weren't very talkative, including the staff. I still plan to give it another chance since one visit isn't enough to judge. It's a very interesting venue.

“an okay place”

An average place, more for an older crowd, not for younger folks looking to party and dance.

“awesome patio”

This bar is a converted Victorian house with an older, cliquey crowd. They have trashy themed movie nights. The main attraction is the great patio: a large backyard with gazebos, perfect for sharing a pitcher of beer with friends on a sunny afternoon.

“Has a lot of potential”

The place looks nice and has potential, but the overrated Columbus gay community ruins it. The gay scene here is highly praised, but I'm not impressed. It's just a bunch of pretentious hillbillies acting like they're in a big city. (Columbus is basically West Virginia's biggest city.) The crowd is cliquish and unfriendly, and lowbrow. I had better luck meeting interesting people on the east coast. Also, some bartenders have issues: one charges different prices each time, raising them, with a fake smile; another was on the internet and got annoyed when I asked for the wifi password, rattling it off quickly and unclearly. (The password had a "plus"—is it spelled out or the symbol?) The back patio is overrated too, dirty from smokers. Columbusites overhype themselves and their city, including this bar. It's not all that.
