“Tired, but still be prepared to be NICKELED and DIMED!!”
This so-called resort truly exemplifies being charged extra for every little thing. Expect to pay almost double the listed price because of resort fees, parking costs, and even pool towel charges. There's a vending machine for pool towels, and if you don't return it, you'll be billed an additional $14. The rooms look worn and unused, needing updates and repairs. The ice machines, if you find any that work, are slow to refill. Head to the upper floors of the tower building to get ice.

“In the heart of it all . . . uber gay-friendly”
The newly updated Doubletree Resort Orlando on International Drive is in a great location in the middle of Central Florida's theme park and entertainment area, just a short walk from SeaWorld and the convention center, and a quick drive to Universal and Disney World. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Orlando International Airport by car, and roughly half an hour to downtown Orlando. The property is large, covering 28 acres with native palm trees and tropical fountains, but it's divided into smaller sections so it doesn't feel too huge. There are multiple pools, a gym open 24 hours, and restaurants on site. And of course, the famous Doubletree cookies are available. The hotel is part of the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association and is TAG Approved. In 2010, it was the host hotel for GayDays and will be again in 2011. My stay was from November 16 to 20, 2010.
