Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino
Hotel · Las Vegas, NV
About
You might expect a mega-resort on the Las Vegas Strip to feel impersonal, but Mandalay Bay has its own distinct appeal. It's one of the largest hotel-casinos, sprawling over the south end of The Strip. The pool complex is a major draw: 11 acres of beach and pool areas, including a wave pool, lazy river, and topless-optional sections. Reviews note the beach is nice, though some say the main pool can feel small. The location is a bit isolated from the mid-Strip frenzy, which some guests prefer.
You can buy meal passes for the buffet that save money during your stay. The Hotel section has a minimalist lobby worth checking out. The casino can get smoky, and some guests have reported negative experiences with dealers. It's a short walk to Luxor Hotel & Casino if you want more gaming options. For LGBTQ+ travelers, it's a welcoming property, though not specifically gay-oriented.

“The casino will try everything they can to turn your luck away.”
I made a strong effort to recover my losses. When I started winning a little, the pit boss said the table had to close and made me move to another table. Within ten minutes, all my money was gone, as if sucked away by a vacuum. The dealer looked really mean and angry. I lost a total of 4600 dollars. The casino was too smoky and the pool was too small for swimming. They should have opened the beach or the large pool.

“I Was working the Comoprof Convention”
I was working the Comoprof Convention and after a long day I went to the wave pool, which was a lot of fun. The casino was a bit smoky.

“cool spot”
A truly nice hotel with good restaurants. It's away from the huge crowds of the mid strip. You could spend your whole vacation here if you wanted.

“Great beach and casino”
I have stayed at the Mandalay three times and never had a bad experience. You can buy three meal passes for the buffet, which saves a lot of money, and you can also get a buffet special for your whole stay. The beach is very nice—bring lots of spray sunscreen. Check out The Hotel's lobby; it's very minimalist and interesting. The only downside is that it's at the start of the Strip, so the location is a bit isolated.
