The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod

About
The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod defies expectations of a typical Strip resort: it's more about value and views than luxury. With its iconic tower soaring above Las Vegas, you get panoramic sights and a casino that attracts a mixed, laid-back crowd. Rooms are noted as clean and staff friendly by repeat guests, though the decor is basic rather than high-end. This isn't a glitzy destination; it's a practical base with a lively, unfussy vibe.
If you're driving, the north Strip location is a plus: close to a handful of gay bars and bathhouses within two miles, and downtown is minutes away. The second-floor shopping plaza offers a variety of restaurants and neat shops, and the sports book is a draw for locals. Just keep in mind that rooms and amenities skew budget-friendly, and you'll need transportation to reach the central Strip attractions like Bellagio or Caesars Palace.
Located on the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip, The STRAT is set apart from the busy central section, offering a quieter base with easy access to downtown.

“this place is awesome !”
I really enjoy the Stratosphere, mainly because it's the closest casino to where I live. There's plenty to do there, though I mostly hang out in the sportsbook and play blackjack elsewhere. The second floor has a great shopping area with lots of restaurants and interesting stores that I visit often. I definitely recommend the Stratosphere.

“trailer park tower”
This place is the main hangout for rednecks and people from rural California when they come to Vegas. It's cheap and trashy like Excalibur but without any glamour. The tower is one of the tallest in the West, but the view from the top is mostly old buildings and empty parking lots. The police used to set up prostitution stings in the hotel rooms here, so if you're involved in that trade, don't respond to ads that say to meet at the Stratosphere. But if you're a country person at heart who likes a trailer park vibe, go ahead and spend some money here.

“What a dump”
It's full of drunk, white trash people. The staff is rude. The pool was disgustingly dirty. The hot tub was full of garbage. It's way too far from the main part of the Las Vegas Strip.

“stayed here many times”
This hotel is far from the crowds on the central part of Las Vegas Boulevard, which is great if you're driving. But if you don't have a car, you'll have a long walk to the big resorts like Caesar's Palace, Mirage, and Bellagio. However, if you have transportation, you're only about two miles from three gay bathhouses and several gay bars. Downtown casinos are just minutes away. A big plus is the tower, which helps you find your hotel if you get lost. Unlike another reviewer, I found the staff friendly and the rooms clean (I've stayed here four times). I think it's one of the best deals in town. But if you want high-end decor and luxury, go elsewhere.

“worst stay in las vegas”
I've been to Las Vegas many times and like trying different hotels, but the Stratosphere is definitely the worst. The staff is unfriendly and rude, and the lobby and rooms are dirty. Cleaning must happen only sometimes. It's so far away from everything. Believe me, stay away.
