“Clean, basic living at a price”

Dune Point, like everything on Fire Island, is way too pricey for what you get. If it were located somewhere without a captive audience, it wouldn't last a month. That said, it's clean and comfortable, though small and cramped. I'm bothered by the multiple emails saying that under New York Occupancy Laws, no one is allowed to enter your room, even during the day. I couldn't find any such laws, and while I suspect this is meant to stop five guys from sharing a two-person room, if I met someone on the beach and wanted some privacy, as the renter, I think that rule is an unwarranted invasion and possibly illegal. Their reservation system is also lacking; they canceled my reservation without warning when I didn't immediately call to put down a deposit, even though they took reservations a year in advance without securing them. I was lucky to catch it in time. Overall, Fire Island is expensive and low-quality, and Dune Point is just like everything else there. I doubt I'll return soon.
