Rosie's Tavern
The clatter of pool balls and shuffleboard pucks fills the air at this Covington dive bar. Rosie's Tavern draws a mixed gay and straight crowd of 20- and 30-somethings, with regulars who treat it like a neighborhood living room. The beer is cold, the drinks are cheap, and the vibe is unpretentious. Smoking is allowed inside, so if that bothers you, grab a spot near the door. It opens at 3pm on weekdays, noon on weekends, and doesn't close until 2:30am each night. You can also walk to The Crazy Fox Saloon nearby for another round.
Bar 32
You'll find a crowd of bears and friends hanging out over pool, karaoke, and strong drinks at this Covington bar. The video bar runs flat screens all around, and drag shows with go-go boys keep things playful into the night. Bar 32 opens daily from early afternoon until 1am, with a full menu of bar food like wings that get local praise. The warm fireplace and pool table rounds out a space that's both a hangout and a spot to dance.
The Crazy Fox Saloon
If you want a low-key dive where everyone's welcome, The Crazy Fox Saloon is your spot. Transgender folks adopted this bar as their own, and the crowd is always diverse and fun. There's a pool table, darts, and a jukebox with great tunes. It's cash only, so come prepared. Open daily from 3pm to 2:30am, you can shoot pool or just hang out with the friendly staff and regulars. Rosie's Tavern is nearby if you're bar hopping.
Weller Haus Bed & Breakfast
This bed and breakfast is best suited for couples or solo travelers who want a quiet retreat within walking distance of Cincinnati's nightlife. Housed in a historic building, Weller Haus offers five individually decorated rooms and a standout breakfast: guests rave about the banana pecan stuffed french toast. The inn operates on an overnight schedule, meaning you can come and go as you please. The innkeeper is known for being friendly and helpful. It's a great choice for locals who want a staycation but need to remain close to home.
What People Are Saying
“fav bar”
A mix of people and many regulars. The staff and owner are welcoming. What I like most is you never know who you'll encounter. I often go alone because most people are up for small talk and some for deeper conversation. Yes, there's smoking (I don't), but I don't mind because some of the most fascinating people I know smoke. It feels like a local bar and I enjoy having a beer or two with this crowd.

“Horrific and nasty”
The 701 Lounge & Bar is a small, cozy bar in Covington that serves both drinks and food. At first, it seems like a nice, clean, friendly place to relax or have fun. But if you look into how the bar is run and who owns it, you'll quickly want to leave. I had four months of direct daily visits, behind-the-scenes experience, overnight stays, and know the owner very well personally. The upstairs where the owner lives is absolutely disgusting and was never fully cleaned during my time there. All that filth inevitably makes its way downstairs to the bar and kitchen. The owner seems friendly and kind until you get to know him, and then you realize he will do anything to make a buck. I would go elsewhere before ever stepping foot in that place again after what I learned.

I had an amazing experience here with someone I met and later married. The music was great, it's cash only, the bartenders were attractive, and the crowd was fun.

“Perfect Getaway and Close to everything”
We're locals and just needed one night away, but wanted to stay close in case our child needed us. The suite with furniture similar to IKEA was lovely, and the innkeeper was very welcoming and helpful. As for breakfast, you should definitely try the banana pecan stuffed French toast. We had a wonderful time and plan to return.
