Bacchus Waikiki
Video Bar · Cocktail Lounge · Honolulu, HI
About
Think of a Waikiki gay bar, and you might picture a packed tourist trap. Bacchus Waikiki is smaller, quieter, and more local. It's an upstairs video bar with no cover, four screens, and a smoking area. The vibe is friendly and laid back, thanks in part to staff known for remembering your name. That bucket of rum and coke for five bucks? Confirmed by a regular.
The space is snug — high-top tables on one side, bar on the other — so arrive before 11 PM to grab a seat. Happy hour deals on weekdays draw an after-work crowd of locals and visitors alike. Some nights a bartender sheds his shirt, but the overall tone stays relaxed. It's a solid stop if you want a low-key drink before heading to DECK.
Bacchus Waikiki is located in the Waikiki neighborhood, within walking distance of hotels and other gay-friendly spots.

“It Gets a Little Bacchanalian...”
Bacchus Waikiki is an upstairs venue with a bar on one side and high-top tables and stools on the other. It's fairly small, featuring four video screens, but there's no cover charge. It's larger than Tapa's Lanai Bar. When I visited around 11:00 pm on October 5, 2017, the crowd was mixed, and I paid $5 for a rum and coke. If you stay long enough for the alcohol to kick in, a muscular guy typically takes his shirt off. I'll probably return!

“Great time in Waikiki!”
Great spot with a wonderful mix of locals and tourists. The bar staff is super friendly and the drinks are excellent. Check their website for fun events during the week, and don't miss trivia night with Ty, which is awesome fun.

“My first bar in Hawaii”
I went to Bacchus when I first visited Honolulu two years ago. Very convenient location and I also like the Thai restaurant next door. On weekdays, they have good drink deals, making it a nice place to hang out with friends. The staff were friendly and it's a good place to meet people. I always stop by when I'm in Honolulu.

“Bacchus”
I had a great time at this bar. It draws locals, tourists, gay, straight, and everyone in between. A wonderful spot to hang out and unwind.

“Great place to meet great guys”
I visited this place three times during my trip to Hawaii in October 2013. The staff were friendly and the drinks were good. The crowd seemed to be mostly attractive people in their twenties. The only downside is the size; this bar is very small. My hotel room was twice as large as this entire bar.
